Every salesperson needs a set of lines that take control of the atmosphere during the sales process. Here is one I made up while I was out in Austin for the last couple weeks:
“Make sure your shoes are tied...because I’m about to knock your socks off!”
Yes, I really did say this and you’re welcome!

Friend of mine long ago sold ford’s right across from a Toyota dealership. Whenever someone would say they were heading there next to check out the competition he’d say “ you remember pearl harbor?” Don’t think it sold any cars but was always a good laugh.

That’s pretty good. Might have had a bit more bite if it had been a Mitsubishi or Subaru dealer.

Did you sell any thing after that?

That’s not important!
Actually in all honesty I was an emergency call in and had to catch a plane three hours after I put the phone down. My sales ended up at over 4 times the amount expected. The top end of the company has been talking about me for the last few days and I’m being rewarded with $2,500 because, to my surprise, I ended having one of the top management’s brothers purchase three times as much as they had planned to and they raved about how great a representative I was. Fantastic successes across the board to start the year.

Bad customers want to be told what they want to hear. Good customers want someone who knows the product inside an out.

Nice! What do you sell, if I can inquire? I used to an FAE, accompanying retarded sales forces and becoming the de facto sales person because I was one of about 3 people in the world who knew the test equipment I was supporting well enough to operate it.

I sell and merchandise premium deli meats and cheeses for grocery store accounts. Doesn’t sound that interesting fundamentally but it turns out it was EXACTLY the job I dreamed of having! Tons of perks and benefits that are specific to my particular situation.
The end goal is to be running sales for the entire nation and I promise you I’ll get there by the time Im 50. Problem is figuring out what will happen in the last 15 years of my career life.

I feel like I knew that at one point. That’s cool. I will help you buy eating deli meats and cheeses.

I was up there this past October but that’s the only time I’ve ever been in Ohio.
